Welcome to Shelf Pre-School

Situated in Shelf village, Shelf Pre-School has been working with local families for over 50 years! Originally starting as Aunty Margaret’s, a mother and toddler group we have changed and grown over the years into the lovely pre-school we are today. We are registered with Ofsted and have been consistently graded good and we are members of the Early Years Alliance.

Our aim is to create a pre-school with a level of comfort and care that provides a homely feel to children while following The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework vital for effective Child Development.

We are located behind the village hall and next to Shelf Park with our own path and private, secure entrance. The super secure gate ensures we can keep the children safe in our wonderful playground. We also have a lovely back garden which we have recently updated to a wildlife forest garden where we will be nature spotting and vegetable/flower planting.

What we offer

Competitive price rates

Highly qualified, kind, dedicated experienced staff.

We offer high quality childcare and education for preschool age children

Fantastic indoor and outdoor areas providing stimulating learning experiences.

We offer government funded places for 2,3 & 4 year olds and have some limited spaces for under 2’s.

We have an open door policy – call in anytime for viewing, we only ask that you avoid lunchtime which is 12 – 1 as this can be distracting for some of our younger children.

Early years education

Shelf Pre-school set the foundations of your child’s first steps on their academic journey and independence which can serve as the basis for all future learning.

We provide a diverse, vibrant programme and your child works towards common goals within the Early Years Foundation Stage. We create an environment where your child can create, explore, imagine and learn. We offer a broad range of educational opportunities and provide experiences that enrich your child’s social, emotional, physical, intellectual, cognitive and creative abilities. We aim to foster your child’s uniqueness and individuality.

Communication

We firmly believe in parents as partners. You are your child’s first educators and have lots to share with us. We use posters, newsletters, sharing sheets, emails, texts, Famly and good old fashioned chatting to keep you up to date with Pre-school life, therefore it is vital that personal details are up to date.

Each child has their own personal early learning journal. We use Famly which allows parents to log in daily and view their child’s progress. It also gives you the parent the opportunity to add your own comments and observations thus ensuring a harmonious relationship between home and Pre-school.
